The data centre pipeline is large. The delivery risk is ordinary.

Mid-year cost reporting put billions of data centre work under construction in New South Wales and Victoria. The risks listed were the usual ones: power, programme, labour and late design.

By late July 2026, construction economists were writing about data centres the way they write about any concentrated pipeline. There is a lot of it in Sydney and Melbourne. Delivery risk has grown with the volume.

Power and services have to arrive in an order the envelope can follow. Fabricated items have long lead times. Inspection regimes are heavier than a standard commercial shed.

Freeze design as early as the client will allow. Fabricate to the model you have. Put one person in charge of the inspection trail.
